Migration Amendment (Abolishing
Detention Debt) Bill 2009 - Second Reading |
| Our borders are
less secure today as a direct result of the actions taken by
the Rudd Labor government. So far the government has ended the
Pacific solution; abolished temporary protection visas, with
more than 1,000 people on temporary protection visas granted
permanent residency; and ended the 45-day rule. This bill is
another step in the wrong direction.

Labor's failure in health! |

have not fixed public hospitals despite an unequivocal

middle of 2009. They are putting additional pressure on public
hospitals through

Labor's flawed Emissions Trading Scheme
- Second Reading Speech |
| The Rudd
government’s proposed emissions trading scheme is deeply
flawed. If the government’s goal is to help reduce global
greenhouse gas emissions, it will not achieve that through its
ETS. It will not help reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
In fact, the Rudd government’s

No evidence RTD tax hike is working |
| This legislation,
the Customs Tariff Amendment (2009 Measures No. 1) Bill 2009
and a related bill, is asking the parliament to validate the
increased tax on ready-to-drinks and is a clear demonstration
that the Rudd Labor government does not believe in evidence
based policy.

Labor's no-more-work-choices Bill 2008 -
Second Reading Speech |

economy. This government does not care about what is good or
what is bad for jobs. This government does not care about

Rudd Government $42 Billion ‘Stimulus’

times, of course, and serious times require serious action,

Faced with a global economic downturn,
Labor like rabbits in the headlight! |
| I rise to reflect
on the government’s management of the economy. When it comes
to managing the economy, we have a government that is

got a clue what it is doing. When faced with one of the most,

Flawed Emissions Trading Scheme ought to
be delayed
(Parliamentary Speech) |
| Confronted with
the realities of life and confronted with the realities of
life in government, government backbenchers are back-pedalling
at a rate of knots. If they keep going at this rate, in a
year’s time they will actually call for Australia to withdraw
from the Kyoto protocol.

Cooperative Federalism just a sham
(Parliamentary Speech) |
| If there was any
further proof required, today we got the conclusive evidence
that cooperative federalism is nothing more than a political
slogan. There is no substance to it. There is no commitment to
it. That became very clear if you listened to the partisan
political response

- Medicare Levy
(Parliamentary Speech) |

flawed. It was fundamentally flawed when it was first

It was fundamentally flawed when it was finally introduced on
budget night.

This Excise
